Elaheh Habibi

Elaheh Habibi is an Iranian visual anthropologist and multidisciplinary artist based in Berlin. Working across documentary film, photography, and children's picture books, her practice explores themes of memory, intimacy, gender, and everyday life in the Middle East. She holds a degree in Visual Anthropology from the University of Manchester and a PhD in Art History from the University of Sorbonne. Her documentary About Love on a Small Island—a study of love and cohabitation in southern Iran—was created during her time at Manchester, where she trained in ethnographic filmmaking. The film was awarded Best Student Film by the American Anthropological Association (AAA). Elaheh’s work bridges ethnographic inquiry with poetic visual storytelling, often focusing on underrepresented voices and subtle forms of resistance within domestic and rural spaces.
